I manage the Waste Education Team - not difficult when you have such great people.  I do some of the delivery visiting and talking to businesses to help them reduce their waste.

I also manage the 'waste' sector of NEC - in that I am tasked with developing new business for NEC in the waste arena.  A case in point is in my recent work project managing the role out of the RCN e-Cycle project for the Community Recycling Network (CRN) of which NEC is a member.  This project has resulted in 20 electronic waste recycling drop-off site being set up throughout NZ, including one at our own Nelson ReUse and Recycle Centre.  Three sites to process the material collected have been set up in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

My work continues to develop new business - so if you have an idea...

I am from Germany and I am very happy to volunteer for NEC for 10 months. During my time in New Zealand I have got two main responsibilities: I maintain and develop the NEC websites, which includes sending out our weekly newsletter ecoevents and I spend much time gardening and landscaping at the centre. Next to that I am lucky to be helping with all sorts of things and events.

I am contracted by NEC to design and develop the outdoor educational landscape at the Braemar premises. It has been a privilege to have this role and is a really exciting opportunity to put into practice my love of gardening using permaculture design principles, organic practices, biodiversity enhancement, food production and education.

I am happy to talk to visitors about the landscape when I am at work (usually only Mondays) and to show people around.
