We are privileged to have Dr Mike Joy, New Zealand’s passionate freshwater advocate, come to this area to give talks in Mapua and Takaka. At a public meeting in Mapua, facilitated by Craig Potton, he will share his perspective on NZ’s rivers, lakes, sustainable water storage and current freshwater policies.
Dr Joy is a prominent freshwater ecologist (Massey and Victoria Universities), recipient of an impressive array of environmental and academic awards, and well known freshwater spokesperson/critic on TV and radio. He has earned huge respect among his scientific peers and environmental groups and has been a fearless crusader over many years, raising awareness of issues that are at the heart of our country’s primary economy and environment.
