Glass bottles

  • a kerbside collection service  for glass is available for all households throughout the Nelson/Tasman region. A hard copy of the collection schedule is available from your local council offices or their websites –  Nelson City Council or Tasman District Council
  • commercial quantities (greater than 1m³) of clean colour sorted bottles and jars are accepted at Richmond; Mariri (Motueka); Takaka; Collingwood; & Murchison.  Charges may apply.  Nelson Transfer Station does not accept commercial quantities of glass.
  • Helping Hands provide commercial collections for glass bottles and jars in Golden Bay
  • A recycling service for plate glass is available in the region through 5RSolutions.  The service will collect the following types (it will be cheaper to recycle than it is to landfill):
    • Annealed (float)
    • Obscures
    • Low E glass
    • Factory coloured glass – greys, blues and browns
    • Factory tinted glass
    • Tempered glass
    • Laminated glass
    • Double Glazed Units
