aims to discover and create ways for our community to respond to the challenges, and opportunities, of Peak Oil and Climate Change. Currently there are16 local Transition groups focussing on different topics, for example, seed saving, health, housing, transport and waste. Anyone is welcome to join a current group, or form their own based on their idea for responding to the coming reduction in cheap energy.

- Composting and gardening Workshops. Did you know that between 45 and 49% of collected household rubbish is food scraps and garden clippings? This isn’t rubbish - it’s energy for your garden! Create Your Own Eden will show you how to turn that half of your weekly waste into useful compost to feed and beautify your gardens, reducing methane and landfill leachate in the process.  Nelson City and Tasman District Councils are partners in this national programme and will be providing roadshows/workshops again in the Autumn
