- incandescent bulbs (standard light bulbs) should be wrapped in newspaper and put in the general rubbish
- energy saving and other mercury containing bulbs (including fluorescent tubes) should be recycled or treated as hazardous waste due to the mercury contained in them
- for households only – collection boxes for energy saving and other mercury containing bulbs (including fluorescent tubes) are available at Bunnings Warehouse, Stoke; Nelson City Council Transfer Station; and Nelson City Council reception area
- for businesses – Interwaste provide a collection box and pick-up service, fees apply. All parts of the bulb are recycled.
