Nelson Reuse & Recycle Centre – About us

” We’ve been in recovery since 1992 and our life is still rubbish”

The ReUse and Recycling operation, started by Mike Gregory and Willi Borst, was in a tiny shed at the Transfer station yard way back in 1992. Keen environmental crusaders and passionate about diverting the waste ‘resource’ from the landfill they decided to do something about it. Willi was instrumental in gaining community support and Mike, well over 20 years later is still working there.

The NRRC aim is to keep resources circulating in the community and out of landfill. By doing this we provide employment opportunities, we provide a valuable service to the community’s second hand/reusable sector and we generate sufficient income to circulate back into the community by supporting the ongoing work of the NEC.
