Est. 1976, we’re a well-established, small organisation with a friendly and dedicated team committed to supporting the environment and our community. We’re proud of how far we have come since our inception, and pleased to play an important role as a leader in the environmental & sustainability sector in our region and New Zealand.
Who can intern with us?
At the Nelson Environment Centre we offer flexible internships and/or professional volunteer opportunities to suit a diverse range of volunteers.
We welcome applicants from New Zealand and overseas who are keen to gain experience and share a commitment to sustainability and community ethos.

What’s involved?
We tailor each internship experience to fit within the scope of our organisation and your unique interests, strengths, and needs. Ideally, internships are for three months but we are open to flexibility.
** Please note, all internships are unpaid.
About internships
Internships can include the opportunity to work closely with members of our team and learn best practice in a well-established NZ Environment Centre.
This can include opportunities to gain insight and experience in various aspects of our business, such as: operations, management, finance, research, marketing/communications, and topic areas specific to your skills & interests
